Could someone specify Where those shortcode are working.. Are they working everywhere(frontend (what IS the frontend?), menu, custom pages, email, etc.), do we need to place a require_once(...) before to make them work, etc. Thanks.--Daddy Cool 18:40, 9 July 2006 (CDT)
what IS the frontend?
The way it has been explained to me in the past is the frontend is what you will see, the backend is what you don't see that makes the thing work.
Could someone specify Where those shortcode are working..
As for where they work, it should be almost everywhere. When I updated the section I tried the shortcodes in the themeable areas, basically any file you would use in the your theme folder. I haven't tried them in the admin areas yet, but the article before I rewrote it said you could use them there so I left it until I find otherwise. I haven't tried them in the custom pages/menus section but I believe I read a forum post that said they do work there also (sorry I don't remember what the post was about so I can't link it for you to read).
do we need to place a require_once(...) before to make them work,
To be honest, I am not sure. If you are using them in a theme you don't, see Creating a theme from scratch. If you are using them in the admin area of a theme it should be the same as the normal theme area. For plugins, that was going to be my next mission to find out if and how many work there.
I hope I was some help. I am currently working on writing my own theme from scratch and when I started there were only 6 or 7 shortcodes listed and I knew there was more. So I decided if I was going to find them and learn how they work I might as well tell everyone else :).
