Solution 1

For very good security reasons it's impossible to reset your password unless you're logged in. If you haven't written your password down in a safe place please do so now, then this scenario will never happen. If it does, you will have to reset your password manually using phpMyAdmin or another similar MySQL manager. Go to the users table, the main admin should be user number 1. Click on the edit button and change the password to 4cb9c8a8048fd02294477fcb1a41191a, this will change your password to changeme. Now log in and update your password immediately.

Credit goes to marj for pointing this Solution out in the forums Found in help Docs (admin > docs > help)

Solution 2

This technique is the same as provided by marj, except the next difference...

Not sure in what version phpmyadmin added that md5 thing, but it works for me on version 2.11.4

Instead of passing the complete md5 string as mentioned in solution 1, just put the password as you want it (in the above example that is changeme) but be sure to select MD5 from the drop down box on the left. That way your password will be converted into a md5 string and your new password is set, then you can login with the new password on your website.

Solution 3

Another way: If you have another e107 site, please use myphpadmin. Select the DB. On the left select e107users. In middle, select browse. Locate the user you know the password for. Select edit. Copy that long string and paste it to notepad/wordpad. Go back to cpanel/myphpadmin of the site with issues. Follow same DB, browse, edit and paste that string in notepad/wordpad to the Main admin. Save.

Solution 1, 2 are best if you know what you are doing. This is just another approach that some users use. -DOA

What should your do when you forgot the password to login to windows system? Ask an administrator to reset the log on password for you. If you yourself are administrator, and you can't remember the administrator password, the problem get a little tricky, and probably hard to recover the "forgotten password" again. Before you search for recovery CD or Windows DVD to format and reinstall Windows onto the computer, here a few solutions you can try to unlock the windows to gain access to the system again, at least by resetting the password

Method 2: Try No Password Administrator Login Backdoor
In Windows XP (not Windows Vista as Administrator account is not enabled by default), there is built-in Administrator user account, that has administrative credentials, enabled by default, and without any password to protect the account from been access. If you didn’t change this Administrator’s password, then try to sign in to Windows XP without password.
Method 3:Reset Windows Password from another user account with administrator credentials
If you cannot log on to Windows by using a particular user account, but you can log on to another account that has administrative credentials, follow these steps on how to do the trick: Log on to Windows by using an administrator account that has a password that you remember. You may need to start WinXP in safe mode. Click Start, and then click Run. In the Open box, type “control userpasswords2″, and then click OK. Click the user account that you forgot the password for, and then click Reset Password. Type a new password in both the New password and the Confirm new password boxes, and then click OK.
Method 4:Using Windows XP Setup CD when Windows password lost

  1. A. Boot the setup CD and follow instruction
  2. B. Accept and press “R” to run the repair for your existing Windows installation.
  3. C. Setup will start copying files ….
  4. D. And then setup will restart your system and don't press any key even it shows “Press any key to continue ...” Otherwise Setup will start from the beginning.
  5. E. Look carefully at the small progress bar with details , when it shows “Installing
    devices “, press <shift>+F10 keys
  6. F. When a window prompts, type nusrmgr.cpl and press <Enter>.
  7. G. It will open the same “User Accounts” window which you see in control panel.
  8. H. Oaky finally you can remove or reset your Windows password now.
