The Personal Content Manager allows you to assign to certain user classes the ability to add (or edit) articles which are made in a particular category. The Personal Content Manager allows those approved users to access the content without having a need for you to make them an admin or without them needing to access the Admin Area in order to modify content items. It is a useful tool if you want to provide easier access to content creation and editing which used to be in the sole domain of the administrator.

Warning : Only set the Personal Content Manager options if you know what you're doing. If you set these permissions incorrect you could well give out rights to anyone to manage the content items !

You can set the Personal Manager options for each category you have created, so not only for main parent categories, but also for subcategories as well.

At the Personal Content Manager page in you content plugin admin area you will first see all these categories listed. Each should have an icon besides it. When you click on the icon for a certain category you want to set these personal content manager options for, you will see a page that contains the following three options you can define, these are the three types of managers you can have:

  • approve submitted
users with this class are able to approve submitted content items. The icons to reach the actual page to approve these items will only be visible if there are content items submitted and not yet approved. If there are no submitted content items, you will not see an icon present.
  • personal manager
users with this class are able to manage only their personal content items in this category.
  • category manager
users with this class are able to manage all content items in this category.
